Kingsgen Debating and Mentoring Academy (KDAMA)
Debating and public speaking help learners gain broad, multi-faceted knowledge cutting across several disciplines outside their normal study areas. It provides an engaging, active, learner- centred activity, helps to develop critical and analytical thinking skills and improve research and note-taking skills too. It helps learners to structure and organize their thoughts and form more balanced, informed arguments and use reasoning and evidence. Developing effective speech composition and delivery also encourages teamwork.
Our expected outcomes are:
• Improved listening and communication skills.
• Improved teamwork as a result of ongoing interactions via the programme
• Enhanced educational attainment through participation in informal learning activities
• Increased self confidence
• Improved presentation/public speaking capability
We are starting with children in year 5-8, that is ages 8-12
